If you have your own website Hosting account you do not need free adtrackers.

Hi the world all over,

I think every on-line affiliate program and those advertising ad tracking will say that if you are going to succeed in making money on the internet you need to know what is bringing in the clicks to your advertised opportunity.

They are probably right. I know that I do not want to waste my time and money (when I spend it) using facilities to expose my opportunity or product out there. We all have work from home opportunities that we want to advertise. We also want to know how our efforts are panning out.Well, I joined a free ad tracking service. Great I thought. I proceeded to test my tracking. I set up the tracking link and like all good people of course I am going to test it to make sure it works.Well!!!!  What was the first thing that came up? Not my ad.  A full blown page of the free service’s ad that said: “Before you go to the site have a look at this”Sod this I thought, I do not mind some sort of discreet ad for using the tracking facility, but this!

Now what does this mean to your maybe paid advertising?

One. If the viewer toddles off to look at this, your ad is probably forgotten. Money wasted.

Two. If you are like me I want to go where I want to not this thing in between so I tend to click out. Money wasted.

You have just paid $50 for advertising and a heck of a lot of it is being used to advertise for someone else.  Maybe you are better off without the tracking.

This is the time of technology, as more and more people are getting their own website hosting. It is the moving thing. Why on earth do these new breed of hosting owners need to use anyone else’s tracking service? After all the free ones are just using a host  like you are.

That what I thought.  Off I went  searching and found something really for free.  An ad tracking script that I could install on my own webhost and did not have to worry about anyone using my ad exposures to my detriment and their benefit.

Don’t get me wrong I am not apposed to other peoples work but it has to be balanced.

Well after a bit of searching I found this script. It was a php script so fitted well into my environment. But it can be used anywhere even if you mainly work with html.

I was delighted. Not only did it work great. It ended up once I got used to it better and easier than the ‘freebee” one.

I tried it on one of my ad campaigns for hosting services. You can see it here.

If you hover your pointer over the graphic you will see the adtrack url. Even if you hover it over the “tiny”url you will see that it points a tracking URL hosted on the same server as my ad. It occurred to me then that I do not really need the tiny url in this case.

Hey! Do you like my pet cow?    (it’s real and in my backyard)

Anyway, the script was provided for free from Gary Mullers site and it really is free. The instructions for installation are quite clear and there are also a couple of video tutorials.

I went over the script with a fine toothcombe to make sure there were no hiddens. Couldn’t find any.

If you really want to take control of your own environment in marketing you should really consider installing your own ad tracking stript. After all you are paying for your website host you may as well make full use of it.

Well what am I getting out of telling you all this. Nothing from Gary Muller.

But I do get to write a good post and we all know that what drives Blogs.

Cheers

Wilf.
