All About Me
Well where do I start? Where do I end? How did I end up on the Internet trying to earn money?
Well I started being born. A cute kid so I was told. (we are all called cute when we are born) Born in an industrial town “Middlesbrough” in the Shire of Yorkshire, north east England. I have just recently found out that I have been disenfranchised from my roots because this part of the world has been carved up and my bit is now called the Shire of Cleveland. Damn politicians.
Where was I? Hah yes, After I was born I grew up a bit, went to school, left when I was 15 and joined the Royal Air Force. (yes you could in those days) Spent 14 years wandering with the air-force around the globe. England, Wales, Shetland Isles, Singapore, Malaya, (then, now Malaysia) Cyprus, (would you believe I spent two and half years on top of a 6,000 foot mountain) and Germany.
I married a beautiful welsh girl (didn’t meet her in Wales) who gave us a gorgeous daughter and a rebellious son.
Finally got fed up with the air-force and volunteered to retire. With all the travelling and living in sometimes remote areas we found we could not settle back onto that packed island called the United Kingdom. We decided to move to Australia. Settled in Adelaide first because we thought Sydney and Melbourne were to big and Got a job with a computer giant at the time called “Control Data”. Moved to Melbourne then Sydney and then back to Melbourne. Also continued travelling quite a bit because of my job.
I was fortunate in my final couple of years in the air-force to have been trained to work on a “buccaneer flight simulator” which was controlled by one of the first digital computers.
Unfortunately after 22 years of marriage my wife and I went our separate ways.
Also unfortunately my son died not long after this in London. It was a sad first trip back to England for us. Time has deadened the lost somewhat.
My gorgeous daughter married and I have now 3 equally gorgeous grand daughters.
I also since remarried to a lovely Kiwi lass born Rotorua, brought up in Masterton finishing up in Auckland. She moved to Aussie about 20 years ago.
So where am I now? Well the header of this blog shows where we are now. The house we put together ourselves. (with a little bit of help from a local builder) Half the house is an original workers cottage moved from Williamstown in Melbourne. It was reputed to have been built in 1858. We had built an extra wing in the same style and put a 8 foot veranda all the way round. This is how a house should be built in a climate like Australia. We did the finishing off and the garden ourselves. All the materials (doors, windows etc) we used came from recycled timber yards and scrap places.
I retired a couple of years ago but found that I still had the yen for all this technical stuff so I decided to find out all about the Internet. I think I did all the bad things people do when when they try to earn money using the Internet. But it was learning and I have just about come out even.
I am now hoping the move ahead with earning using real products and things using the blueprint as a framework to start. I have still a lot to learn.
My personal likes are music, (country and classical) Computers, reading, cooking, traveling (still) and contemplating.
My ambition (yep I still have them) is to earn enough on the Internet to finish restoring the heritage hall next to me.
I also like to help others to achieve their ambitions if I can.
So here I am, living in country Victoria Australia occasionally conversing with koalas, possums, kangaroos, rosellas and all those other birds that keep flitting past my windows eating up all the spider for me.
It is quiet and tranquil just as I like it, which is the reason “why I live where I live”
